Class was extremely slow today... besides a final review for the cumulative 100-question test next week, we sat and talked like usual. People were mostly talking about going on leave for stand-down.
I got there early to workout today, and didn't get out of bed until just before I wanted to leave. Arrived at 1030, worked on my arms with benching and several other machines before muster at 1100. Broke from that, picked up my mail, got some cash out, then returned to the gym for a quick run before my shower and a burger at the galley for lunch. I have them every Monday... along with a salad, a bowl of chili, some cottage cheese and milk. Not bad for $4.25.

Back At It
It was cloudy this morning for a change, though; so it was easier to work top-side. It's amazing how fast the day goes, and how utterly worn out I am by the end of it.
Did more of the same stuff as on Friday... just more. And this time I got to use the sander tool, which spins a very rough sandpaper disc very fast. I was very glad of my painter's mask and personal eye protection I got this weekend.
Falvey and Hooten worked below, and Patterson was with me today. We did a good job together. But when it was time to leave, the duty van was gone inexplicably. Apparently, the quarterdeck didn't pass on the memo to the next watch, and it wasn't reserved like our driver thought. And then we tried his car, but the battery had died. So we waited around til Baldwin (after Hooten's phone call) was able to bail us all out, jump-starting the car and taking some of us back.
Didn't get back until 1700! Even later than Friday!
I do like the galley on the ship. Today it was breaded & baked fish with veggies; tonight at the one on base, I decided to forgo meat... brussel sprouts, mixed veggies & potatoes and a roll. And today was a good day... for both breakfast on base, and lunch on the ship I had a pair of kiwi's! Yum!

Color Guard Practice
Friday morning's work was only taken up with the trip to the base downtown to practice the ceremony. We're doing it inside in a small auditorium on base, probably due to the bad weather we've been having lately. We practiced what we thought we'd like to do, and then the master chief arrived and let us know how we're doing it. Filing in from the right side of the theater (me leading), we come to the center, halt and left face. Present arms... and then shoulder arms after the Banner is played. Right face and march off to the left side of the theater (me leading).
Whatever you do in the Navy, it is always a huge compliment to have the master chief come up and thank you for volunteering and notice your good military bearing. :)
We were picked up by the same duty driver and taken back to Point Loma right around 1100... which is quitting time on Fridays. Lunch was outstanding that day! Fresh shrimp and veggie stir fry! This was one of the best things I've had here... I am so impressed!
